Astros Veteran infielder Aaron Boone has a heart condition that will require surgery, effectively ending his year with the Astros. "I have been diagnosed as having a heart condition involving the aorta and aortic valve," Boone said, flanked by nearly the entire Astros team at a Wednesday morning press conference in a meeting room at the Osceola County Stadium complex.

 Pudge and Astros will finalize $1.5 million Deal, Tonight or Tommorow
Astros The Houston Astros and catcher Ivan Rodriguez are closing in on a $1.5 million, one-year contract, a person familiar with the talks told The Associated Press on Monday. The deal would contain $1.5 million in performance bonuses based on games and plate appearances, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the agreement had not yet been announced by the team.

 Pudge to Houston makes sense

The Houston Astros addressed the Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez rumor earlier this spring by expressing their lack of interest in signing the 14-time All-Star and future Hall-of-Fame catcher.

 

Houston's 2008 first-round draft pick Jason Castro may eventually emerge as the team’s future catcher, but for now, the Astros organization wants to give Humberto Quintero and J.R. Towles an opportunity to win the job.
