Ellsbury could be done for the season

Jacoby Ellsbury is scheduled to return to Boston today and could be shut down for the season after his exam in Los Angeles with Dr. Lewis Yo***** revealed a possible rib fracture, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Rangers seeking Boston's Lowell ... again?

Espn is reporting The Texas Rangers are apparently looking to snag a backup corner infielder, according to ESPN. The team apparently doesn't think youngsters Matt Brown or Max Ramirez have got what it takes just yet.

So the front office has got less than a week to make something happen if they want it done before Opening Day and the word is that the team keeps talking about what it would take to get Mike Lowell from the Boston Red Sox, who almost went to Texas earlier this offseason in a deal that eventually got scuttled supposedly due to a poor physical by Lowell. The rumor is that the Rangers will offer Ramirez to the Sox for Lowell just as they did earlier in the winter.

Other possibilities include Kevin Millar if he doesn't get himself onto the Chicago Cubs' bench, as well as the Florida Marlins' West Helms or New York Mets' Fernando Tatis.
