The Tacoma News Tribune is reporting "Cliff Lee appealed his suspension Wednesday in a telephone conference call that took close to two hours – and didn't end with a decision.
"I didn't have any idea how long it would take. We were saying the same things over and over, really," Lee said. "It lasted more than two hours."
It wasn't a one-on-one appeal MLB vice president Bob Watson, who oversees rules and on-field actions. Besides Lee and Watson, there were an arbiter, Lee's agent and at least two witnesses on Lee's behalf – manager Don Wakamatsu and trainer Rick Griffin.
At the heart of the discussion was Lee throwing a pitch behind the head of Arizona catcher Chris Snyder on March 15, Lee's second spring start. That was the game in which Snyder and Lee tangled behind the plate, the play during which Lee suffered a strained abdominal muscle that's kept him off the field since."
