 | Mets not interested in Washburn |
The Ny Daily is reporting The New York Mets lost its fourth game in a row last night in the worst way: a walkoff homer by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th after the Mets had rallied to tie it in the ninth. It's looking like Manager Jerry Manuel may come back from this road trip to a firing squad if the losing continues.
Even though his squad is losing and the team already has a firm grasp on last place in the National League East, Manuel and GM Omar Minaya apparently has no plans to change the pitching via trade or free-agent signing, according to the New York Daily News.
The team apparently has no interest in signing free agent Jarrod Washburn(notes). If the Mets can climb out of this very early hole, though, it is possible that it could try to bring back Pedro Martinez(notes), who the Philadelphia Phillies would likely be interested in down the stretch as well to bolster a thin starting rotation there.
Until then, Mets fans, you've got Johan Santana, Oliver Perez, John Maine, Mike Pelfrey, and Jon Niese at your service. Enjoy.
