Ellsbury could be done for the season




Jacoby Ellsbury is scheduled to return to Boston today and could be shut down for the season after his exam in Los Angeles with Dr. Lewis Yo***** revealed a possible rib fracture, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

 Padres close to signing Giants' reject?

Padres Si is reporting Dominican third base prospect Duanel Jones hasn't had a rollercoaster of an offseason. The 16-year-old had supposedly signed a $1.3 million deal with the San Francisco Giants that the team voided in January because of a failed drug test.


Sports Illustrated was reporting yesterday that Jones was about to sign with the San Diego Padres, but MLB.com discovered that the signing isn't a done deal just yet, but Jones and the team are supposedly "moving toward" an agreement.

When Jones does sign, ESPN has it that he should likely expect a 50-game suspension from the league for his failed drug test. Pretty crazy couple of months for a 16-year-old, yes?
