RockiesColorado.rockies.mlb.com is reporting The Rockies will announce on Sunday the signing of veteran right-hander Russ Ortiz to a Minor League contract, and they're close to signing slugger Jason Giambi to a Minor League deal, a baseball official confirmed Saturday night.

Rockies Colorado Rockies starter Jeff Francis could potentially miss the 2009 season if he decides to opt for shoulder surgery. The left-hander was hindered by shoulder issues last season and told TEAM 1040 radio in Vancouver he may have to go the surgical route as his off season program has yet to help matters.
